Opposition leader Raila Odinga and Uganda's Soroti-based Iteso cultural leader Emormor Augustine are among dignitaries expected at Busia Governor-elect Sospeter Ojaamong's inauguration, Monday.

The swearing-in ceremony takes place at Busia County Stadium in Matayos constituency from 10am.

According to Busia County Secretary Nicodemus Mulaku, an invitation was extended to Raila and other National Super Alliance (Nasa) co-principals including Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto.

The invitation was extended to governor-elect challengers in the recently concluded gubernatorial polls including Paul Otuoma, Okoch Mondoh, Francis Oyatsi, Michael Oloo, Benjamin Okwara and Engineer Dan Barasa.

Also a 26-man delegation from Uganda led by Emormor is expected at the function.

Matayos MP-elect Geoffrey Odanga noted on Sunday that preparations were in top gear for the fete.

"I am happy arrangements are in top gear with many leaders invited expected to grace the occasion. As the Governor is set for the swearing in ceremony. I am appealing to him to deliver a message of cohesion and peace to the people of Busia,” said Odanga.

Ojaamong won the county's top seat after beating his closest rival and former Funyula MP Paul Otuoma with 135,153 votes against the latter's 125,905.

Ojaamong has promised an overhaul in his administration to improve service delivery.
