At a tense meeting in Athi River on Monday, Raila was tasked to explain the deal which had been opposed by Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi.

"We all met because we were not privy to his meeting with Uhuru He explained why he decided to go ahead and even apologised," said Kibwana, one of few leaders allowed in the meeting.

The Wiper chairman added: "The meeting had nothing to do with split in NASA because there is none. He was only to bring up to date his colleagues."

Viewed as a historic occasion, the secret pact between Uhuru and Raila could precipitate a paradigm shift in Kenya's geopolitical landscape.

To find the way forward, Kivutha said, the other three principals insisted that they will also met Uhuru separately before giving a collective stand.

"They agreed to also meet Uhuru separately before coming with a common stand. This will happen in due course," he said in an interview with KTN News.
