Opposition chief Raila Odinga has arrived in Mombasa where he is expected to meet NASA elected leaders from the Coast region.Key in the agenda of the leaders’ meeting will be the People’s Assembly roadmap and the future of the NASA coalition.Coast region largely voted for the former Prime Minister during the August 8 general election.Among leaders who received the NASA principal were Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nasir and Joho’s deputy, Dr William Kingi.According to Raila, the People’s Assembly will be a broad-based forum consisting of elected leaders and the leadership of other sectors of society in particular workers, civil society, religious leaders, women, youth and economic interest groups.“We have obligated ourselves to respect, obey and defend our Constitution. We are now compelled by this obligation to chart our way back to democracy, constitutionalism and the rule law,” he recently said."NASA has already formed a Task Force to look into the systemic continuing failure of electoral bodies, and the electoral system in general, performance of national security organs and the abuse thereof by the Executive, the political architecture and the structure of the Executive and Parliament in particular,” added Raila.
