Jubilee Party leaders in Uasin Gishu County have vowed to stop Opposition leader Raila Odinga from popularising his new outfit, National Resistance Movement (NRM), in the area.

Led by County Assembly Speaker David Kiplagat, the leaders told off NASA politicians over the formation of an 'illegal' movement, saying their agenda is not welcome in the region.

Uasin Gishu is the home county of Deputy President William Ruto.

Kiplagat said the county assembly would dismiss any attempts to establish what Raila has termed 'People's Assembly' in the County.

"We will not hesitate to shoot down such plans. We have an economy to protect and we will not be used to rubber stamp individual's political agenda," the Speaker told Sunday Standard.

Raila has asked county assemblies to help establish 'People's Assembly' to help the Opposition push its reforms agenda.

Among the NASA demands is a new election within 90 days.

Uasin Gishu County Assembly Leader of Majority Josphat Lowol said they will not be used to front a party's political agenda.

He claimed Raila was only interested in 2022 politics after failing to trounce President Uhuru Kenyatta in the last poll.

"We are not ready to engage on petitions that suit an individual's interest," Lowol said.
