Opposition members have been accused of failing to help Internally Displaced Persons during their time in government.
Speaking in Nyamira on Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta said the opposition was wrong to criticise his administration for compensating the Kisii/Nyamira IDPs.
“They are the ones who failed because they were in government when these people became IDPs. They are now dwelling on propaganda and threats instead of focusing on issues,” said President Uhuru.
He said NASA Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga was Prime Minister and Kalonzo Musyoka Vice President soon after the IDPs were displaced but they did nothing.
Opposition MPs on Wednesday morning said that the Head of State was using IDP compensation as a way of bribing voters ahead of the next general election.
The IDP were rewarded with Sh358 million in Kisii while Nyamira received over Sh400 million.
