Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Odinga has criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta for the recent public service appointments he made.
Mr Odinga termed the appointments as a reward to cronies from only two communities yet everybody in the country pays taxes.
“We pay taxes just like any other person yet the President keeps appointing people from only two tribes. Does this mean that the government belongs only to two communities?” posed Raila.
President Kenyatta recently appointed former Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia, former Tinderet MP Henry Kosgey and former Postmaster-General Hussein Ali to chair key boards in the country.
Odinga also slammed the President for carrying out a performance audit yet there was little to show to Kenyans.
“Jubilee has seriously been misadvised on the on-going performance audit which is an exercise in futility. It is purely a public gimmick aimed at hoodwinking Kenyans that the government has performed yet it has failed to deliver on its promises,” said the Cord leader.
He accused the President and his Deputy William Ruto of using scare tactics on Cord supporters such as deploying the military in Malindi constituency during a by-election in which Cord's Willy Mtengo emerged winner.
“This is a clear illustration that the President and his deputy are re-inventing the provincial administration to scare our supporters,” he said, adding that the Coast Regional Commander was serving the interests of the government and not the people.
Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro cautioned Jubilee against chest thumping and harassment against poor Kenyans.
“Jubilee should stop chest thumping that they will rule for over twenty years since every Kenyan has the ability and should be given an opportunity to lead the country,” said Ongoro.
