Barely three days to the swearing in of the opposition leader Raila Odinga in Nairobi, the opposition leader made a final rehearsal before a cheering crowd in Homabay during the People’s assembly.
They insisted that there is no turning back on their decision, which has since picked momentum in the last few weeks.
“On 30th January, on Tuesday, Raila Odinga will be at the Uhuru Park grounds and will be sworn in as the president,” said Odinga.
NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavadi said their patience had run out, after giving the Jubilee government time to initiated dialogue to no avail.
Kalonzo Musyoka too said they are willing to risk having two republics, if the government was not willing to sit and negotiate with them.
“It is time now to decide whether we are going to stay as one united nation or things get worse. Even if you are going to have two republics,” he added.
There are fears by the international community that the standoff might lead to chaos in the country, as witnessed in past elections times.
The foreign governments threatened to sanctions all leaders threatening the stability of the country, but a defiant Raila has said he risks all that as he is not interested in traveling abroad.
