Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday demanded that US president, Donald Trump withdraw his abusive and racial remarks on African Nations and other third world countries and apologize.President Trump had referred to African Nations and Haiti as 'shithole countries' that have no benefit to the United States of America.Odinga described the racial remarks made by Trump troubling and unfortunate and demanded Trump to "unequivocally" apologize for his utterances.“The remarks made by President Trump are part of a growing habit by a president who has never missed an opportunity to bully and disparage particularly poor nations,” Mr. Odinga said in a statement.Mr. Trump must equally be reminded that many of the poverty and governance-related problems that keep Africa down result directly or indirectly from US foreign policies and interference,” he adds. The National Super Alliance (NASA) Chief says that the US views Africa as potential Market for its goods with many US firms pitching tents in the continent.
“In fact, recent media reports indicated that President Trump views Africa as a market for US goods and services and is keen to slow down on issues of democracy and human rights in pursuit of trade in Africa. Africa cannot be a market and a nothing at the same time," he noted. He appealed for African leaders to demand an apology from the US and uphold dignity.
