National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga Tuesday endorsed the re-election of Meru Governor Peter Munya.

Speaking when he took NASA campaigns to Tigania East and Igembe Central Constituencies, the opposition leader urged residents to rally behind Munya and give him another term to serve at the county's top seat.

Munya, the former Council of Governors (CoG) chair, is facing stiff competition from Senator Kiraitu Murungi of the Jubilee Party.

Raila, accompanied by his co-principal Moses Wetang'ula, called on residents to reject Kiraitu whom he accused of not helping Meru people while he is part of the government.

"Kiraitu is a Jubilee Senator who has been sleeping on his job. Miraa farmers have been suffering under Uhuru's government while he dine and wine with the Jubilee top leaders. He should not replace Munya in Meru," said Raila addressing residents at  Karama market in Tigania East.

Governor Munya is backing the re-election of Raila's rival, President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee Party.

Munya's, Party of National Unity endorsed Uhuru for president in January, this year.

The NASA leaders asked the people of Meru to back the opposition alliance in next month election promising to improve their livelihoods.

"We will raise the stipend paid to elderly persons to Sh5,000 from the current Sh2,000. Miraa and milk farmers will also get good returns as we will raise the prices of the two commodities," said the ODM leader.
