Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has asked Kenyans to ignore the opposition who have insisted that there will be no repeat presidential elections on October 26.
Mandago says the opposition, under the leadership of Raila Odinga, has no authority to stop elections.
Speaking during a campaign rally at Kiminini trading centre in Trans Nzoia county on Tuesday, the Jubilee allied governor asked Kenyans to prepare to participate in the October 26 repeat poll.
"On the elections day, wake up early, go vote, return home and wait for results. Ignore those yapping that there will be no elections," Mandago said.
"Raila has no authority to stop an election. He cannot give orders that there will be no elections. He's not an MP, not an MCA, not even a candidate as he's now a former candidate and an ordinary Kenyan," he added.
The governor further asked IEBC to replace individuals who have declined to take up various roles for the upcoming poll.
"Those who don't want to work as Returning Officers or clerks should be done away with. There are many people out there who would gladly take up those positions," Mandago said.
