NASA leader Raila Odinga has been challenged to publicly oppose a move by a section of MPs demanding pay rise.
President Uhuru Kenyatta speaking at Catholic University on Thursday, urged Raila to oppose the plans by MPs who are faulting SRC for reducing their salaries.
"I urge my brother Raila Odinga to speak against this plot by MPs before they are even sworn into office", said Uhuru.
Uhuru said he will not sign into law any bill brought to him by MPs to increase their salaries.
He said the legislators are showing shame to the people who elected them.
Uhuru's sentiments comes after newly elected MPs rejected a pay cut as recommended by Salaries and Remuneration commission.
Homa Bay county women rep elect Gladys Wanga claimed that SRC's move to reduce the MPs salaries will reduce the legislators to beggars.
SRC reduced MPs salaries from Sh,710,000 to Sh621,250 per month.
The commission also slashed allowances given to the legislators in the 12th parliament.
The MPs are expected to resume sessions from next week Thursday.
