National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga Tuesday used football analogy to describe the events that unfolded at the presidential debate on Monday evening.
Likening himself to Barcelona striker Lionel Messi, Raila took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta (Real Madrid's Christano Ronaldo), for chickening out of the much-awaited televised debate.
"Yesterday Barcelona was supposed to play with Real Madrid but Real Madrid feared and they failed to appear in the pitch so Messi was left to do his thing alone because Ronaldo stayed off," the opposition leader said during a vote-hunting mission in Meru County.
Uhuru said he snubbed the debate because it would be a 'waste of time' to debate with Raila who 'has no agenda for Kenya.'
But NASA presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka said they tricked the Jubilee candidate into missing the hyped debate.
“We tricked them… we knew those guys fear being accountable to the citizens and that is why I told Raila to seize the moment,” Kalonzo was quoted by the Daily Nation speaking at Nthongoni, Makueni County.
