ODM chief Raila Odinga attended the presidential debate which was snubbed by incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta and he had something fior everyone including the landlords.
Responding to the rent issue that many believe will make property owners not to vote for him, Odinga refuted the ‘landlords’ tag that is used by this house owners in urban centers.
“They are not landlords but structure owners. They are given a permit by the government to own land and put up structures but should not exploit the poor,” Odinga said.
The NASA presidential candidate promised to lower house rents for low income earners. He said that the Rent Restrictions Act will be fully implemented under his rein.
“Rent Restrictions Act is meant to regulate rent for low-income earners. It has not been probably implemented to safeguard the poor,” the NASA presidential candidate said.
Odinga did not spare his Jubilee counterparts during the one man show. He accused the government of the day of corruption. He promised to deal with corruption once elected on 8th August.
“Now, every shilling that is spend, a shilling is stolen and lands in one’s pocket. We will reduce corruption,” Raila stated.
