ODM leader Raila Odinga has joined for the first time the controversial debate over nominations to Nyamira County Assembly that saw Daughter's of Raila lobby group Irene Mayaka thrown out of the assembly.
Even after the court validated her nomination, Ms Mayaka was yet again restrained by the High Court following a case filed by Damaris Mouni, who had claimed nomination.
In a letter through the ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, the ODM party insists that Ms Mayaka remains the legitimate nominee of the party.
"It is the party's position that Irene Mayaka was validly nominated by the party to Nyamira Assembly under the gender category," read the letter.
The letter further added: "Kindly note that the corrigenda sought to delete and/or expunge Damaris Mouni's name. She will be disciplined by the party."
The secret letter with Raila's blessing was copied to Speaker of Nyamira County Assembly and the Majority Leader.
