Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga could endorse Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s 2022 presidential bid if he himself will not be on the ballot, political analyst Peter Ngure has said.

Ngure argues that Raila’s chances of supporting Joho in 2022 are high after he was disappointed and betrayed by his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka and allies Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula on Tuesday during his oath as the people’s president.

Ngure observes that the Tuesday betrayal will have a huge impact in Raila’s 2022 succession politics.

In an interview on Wednesday, Ngure, a Kiambu based political analyst said that Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula’s Tuesday betrayal is likely to have a negative political impact on their relationship with Odinga moving forward.

The analyst said that already Raila’s supporters are perceiving Kalonzo as a traitor and a coward who cannot be trusted.

Ngure said that Joho is the person that stands to benefit if Raila and Kalonzo parts ways after the Tuesday disappointment.

“Governor Joho is the person to watch now because his presence at Raila’s inauguration when other people had abandoned him means a lot politically,” the analyst said.

Ngure said that Joho has proven himself as confident and loyalist of Raila Odinga. He said that Joho’s support for Odinga has overshadowed Kalonzo Mudavadi and Wetangula who he said might have buried their optical carrier by skipping the Tuesday swearing in at Uhuru Park.

Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula snubbed Raila’s swearing as the people’s president at Uhuru Park on Tuesday.

The Wiper Party leader absence has drawn condemnation from NASA supporters and politicians who have labeled him a traitor.

The former Vice President has however defended his absence at Raila’s inauguration saying that he could not attend due to unavoidable circumstances.

Kalonzo says that he is ready to be sworn in as Raila’s deputy insisting that Jubilee government is illegitimately in power.
