Political analyst Ambrose Weda now claims that opposition leader Raila Odinga is the force behind the recent unity pledge between Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
The leaders met in Mombasa last Thursday, when the Senator paid a courtesy call on the county chief at his office, after which they vowed to collaborate in accordance with the ongoing national reconciliation and healing initiative.
According to Weda, this is most likely a scheme to incorporate Gideon into Odinga's bandwagon, considering that Joho is the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader's co-deputy in his Orange party.
He termed the same as a good hint at Odinga's fifth stab at the presidency in the approaching 2022 general elections and a scheme to enable him to attract the Kalenjin vote via Gideon.
''Joho is Raila's deputy and Joho is being used as the link between Odinga and Gideon in a bid to court the Kalenjin vote as he prepares to vie again for the presidency in 2022,'' said Weda on KBC English Service Wednesday.
He added that the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party, which Moi leads, is also on its way to Odinga's side.
''This is an intimation that KANU is warming up to Odinga's side,'' he stated.
