Odinga further said he will not watch Kenya dragged back to precolonial days by Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.

Earlier this week, Kenyatta vowed to deal with opposition leaders who he said were determined to instigate chaos in the country.

"I have been in jail before and I don't fear going back. If they are courageous enough, let them come and arrest me anytime that is convenient for them," he told cheering supporters in Meru.

He added: "I cannot sit and watch people who have no clue on freedom of speech intimidating leaders. Kenya is a free country and that must stick in their heads."

The two leaders have been at loggerheads over August's elections with Odinga accusing Uhuru of hatching a plot to rig elections.
