Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga is the first high profile leader to come under defense of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi over alleged loss of Sh51 million.
Kingi has been subjected to criticisms with a section of politicians allied to Jubilee led by Deputy President William Ruto.
And on Wednesday, Odinga lauded the county government following its efforts towards recovering the lost money.
“I must commend the County Government of Kilifi for the decisive manner in which it has handled this fraud. It took clear and specific measures to get to the bottom of this fraud,” read an excerpt of his speech.
‘It suspended ten officials implicated in the fraud by virtue of their passwords being used, pending conclusion of investigations. The government decided that suspects cannot hold office while being investigated,” he added.
On Thursday, Jubilee government through Majority Leader Aden Duale accused Odinga of covering opposition Governors on matters graft, claiming that he was chief beneficiary.
