ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga has said that attacks on former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru should be stopped as she is only a 'victim' of NYS theft.
The CORD leader said Waiguru is being used as a “sacrificial lamb” in the scandal, adding that the real beneficiaries of the stolen funds are Jubilee top leaders.
Speaking at Moi’s Gardens in Kericho town on Sunday, Raila urged Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale to stop attacking Waiguru, arguing that the two were allegedly beneficiaries of the lost funds.
“I have no problem with Waiguru and I urge her to continue spilling the beans over the NYS scandal. The former CS was not alone in this and therefore, she should not be blamed,” said Raila.
He added: "Duale and Senator Murkomen should desist from attacking Waiguru because they are the beneficiaries of the NYS money."
The former Prime Minister challenged the two leaders to resign from office so as to clear their names. He also called for the sacking of the Deputy President William Ruto's personal assistant Farouk Kibet after he was implicated in the scam.
