An agitated Raila Odinga is said to have opposed plans to postpone his swearing-in despite being prevailed upon by fellow NASA principals, a source privy to last minute intrigues on Sunday has revealed.
At the meeting, also attended by his family and diplomats, Raila is said to have first declined to meet the team before being persuaded to.
"He at first declined to meet the diplomats before he was convinced to do so," said the source who spoke in confidence.
With most attendees advising against swearing-in, Raila is said to have remained calm throughout the tense meeting.
And after the decision to postpone the swearing-in was arrived at, Raila is said to have declined to sign a press statement that was read by Musalia Mudavadi.
"He was for the swearing-in and when they prevailed upon him, Raila declined to sign a statement for postponement.
"Further, he declined to be included in negotiations that were being fronted and instead, he delegated it to his co-principals," said the source.
Although the fate of dialogue remained uncertain, President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that he will be interested with dialogue that would respect the rule of law.
