Opposition leader Raila Odinga has demanded an explanation from president Uhuru Kenyatta, on how Kenya dropped to be among the countries with high corruption index.
This is after Kenya was ranked position 145 globally after Gambia and Cameroon, dropping six positions, in a new 2016 Corruption Perceptions Index, by the Transparency International (TI).
East African Countries in Sub-Saharan Africa performed poorly, with Somalia being ranked last, at position 176 after South Sudan which has been ranked at position 175, with Sudan coming position 170 and Uganda at 151.
Denmark, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Singapore, Netherlands, Canada, and Luxembourg came top ten respectively, as Countries that are committed to thwart corruption in all sectors.
"In the latest Transparency International report, Kenya has returned to the Super league of corruption, listed among the 20 most corrupt countries in the world, alongside big players like Bangladesh, Cameroon, The Gambia, Madagascar and Nicaragua,'' he told the press, at his Karen home.
Raila said Kenyans deserved an administration of the people and for the people, that is close to the people’s burdens and problems, and Jubilee was not the one.
"Let us count our losses and move forward wiser as we prepare for elections. In the meantime, we expect President Uhuru Kenyatta to tell us the status of our country, how he got us there and where he thinks he is taking us,'' he said, Friday.
