During a press briefing in Nairobi on Monday, the Cord co-principal said political ambitions and self-interests are some of the fundamental reasons that have led to some of his friends decamping.

"There are always ambitions. People's ambitions like those of William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi wanted to try their luck. The other day Kalonzo Musyoka wanted to try his luck and that is why he went away. So it is not as if Raila is not able to keep friends. It is that sometimes personal interests outweigh common interest," he said.

Deputy President Ruto, ANC leader Mudavadi, former Lands CS Charity Ngilu and Tourism CS Najib Balala are some of the leaders who have worked with Raila before but have since decamped.
