ODM party leader Raila Odinga has said Cord has potential candidates who will be its flag bearer in the 2017 elections.

On Friday night, Raila denied claims that he had held talks with Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi over plans to be the Cord candidate to contest against President Uhuru Kenyatta in next year’s presidential polls.

According to kbctv.co.ke, the former prime minister said Cord was not short of potential presidential candidates, stating the flag bearer will be picked among the three co-principals;him, Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula.

Raila spoke during a dinner to celebrate 10 years since the formation of the Orange Democratic Movement party which was also attended by Cord co-principal Kalonzo.

Cord is expected to pick its presidential candidate in January next year during the National Delegates Convention in January 2017.

During the event, Raila hailed the move by the National Parliament to curb party hopping after the members passed the electoral reform Bill.

Raila who is expected to tour western Kenya beginning Sunday, promised that Cord nominations will be fair and free.
