Raila has urged the president and his deputy, William Ruto to read the constitution regards rights to demonstrate, assemble, picket and protest.

"We don’t need Kenyatta’s permission to exercise our constitutional rights to assemble, demonstrate, picket and protest. My response to the president and the deputy would be to read and understand the constitution,'’ said Raila.

In an interview with a local newspaper the Cord leader said his coalition will not participate in the next general election if IEBC will still be in place.

"If IEBC remains it will be on condition that they don’t conduct the next general election in 2017. Kenyans will be told what IEBC is being paid for. I repeat IEBC will not conduct an election we are participating in, and we intend to participate in the next general election," he said.

Last week, President Kenyatta had accused the opposition of inciting Kenyans to participate in violence by organizing street protests and demonstration.

Reacting to these developments, a number of Kibera residents said that if the opposition is to be disbanded then the right procedure is to be followed as outlined in the constitution.
