Four ODM legislators who have since backed Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 bid are doing in on their own, party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has said.

During Ruto's three days tour at the coast, MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Jones Mlolwa (Voi), Ali Mbogo (Kisauni) and Danson Mwashako of Wundanyi said Ruto's presidency is inevitable.

"We cannot stop and idea whose time has come. In 2022, there is no other candidate for presidency other than then DP," said Jumwa.

Although he burried hatchet with his political nemesis Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila Odinga has however remained tight lipped on his future in politics.

But the party's SG Edwin Sifuna, one of radical leader hailed for implementing Raila's agenda, has dismissed the endorsements as premature and unnecessary.

"Our position is that we shall not discuss 2022 politics. Such sentiments attributed to legislators were their own opinions. We are focused on electoral justice and justice on police brutality victims," Wafula said.

The DP has been on charm offensive in regions traditionally leaning towards the opposition especially in Coast and Western regions.

While his 2022 plans remain unclear, sources within ODM party indicate that Raila is keen to run for presidency.
