Raila Odinga has again made the news headlines after publicly confirming that he will not honour the 2013 MoU with Kalonzo Musyoka.
Making the controversial claim, Odinga affirmed that the MoU ceased to be valid after the IEBC announced that President Kenyatta had emerged the winner in the last general elections. The ODM party leader noted that his agreement with Kalonzo was conditionally signed on the fact that he would lead the country for a single term, of which he would, thereafter, support the Wiper leader.
Raila's statements are expected to raise some conflicts of interest in the Cord coalition that has previously been rumoured to be on the verge of collapsing. Several politicians within the opposition coalition have faulted Raila's sentiments, stating that it is a selfish confirmation that he is self centred.
Reacting to Raila's statement, Khalwale said that it is irresponsible of a leader to utter such words hinting that it could spell doom for the Cord coalition. However, Kalonzo is yet to respond to the statement.
It is speculated that Kalonzo is on his way out to the Jubilee coalition given the fact that he has openly claimed that he will welcome President Kenyatta during his Ukambani tour.
