Cord leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday took his campaign to former ODM Secretary General Ababu Namwamba's Budalang'i home turf.
Contrarily, the ODM leader received a rousing welcome from jubilant residents singing in his praise.
Before stepping down as ODM SG, Mr Namwamba claimed Mr Odinga had not stepped in Budalang'i for over 10 years and that he had not initiated any development projects there.
Dismissing the claims however, Raila defended his development record saying when he was roads minister, he commissioned the construction of the Bumala-Funyula-Port Victoria road and the construction of the Port Victoria fish cooling plant both in Mr Namwamba's constituency.
He said he oversaw the designing of the Sigiri bridge but the project ended up becoming a white elephant when the 'then regime' declined to release funds for the project's implementation.
Raila vented anger on the Jubilee government which he said had neglected many counties including Busia.
He said the Jubilee government oversaw the disappearance of Sh1.9 billion from the Eurobond proceeds. This, he said had led to the high cost of living in the country.
"The Eurobond scandal has led to the high cost of living, therefore something has to be done to ensure the Jubilee government is shown the door," he said.
Raila at the same time said Uganda Marine Security Officers should stop harassing Kenyan fishermen in Lake Victoria.
He said Ugingo as well as Migingo islands in Lake Victoria were in Kenya, adding that he would engage Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in talks about the persistent harassment of Kenyan fishermen by Uganda security personnel.
Raila said ODM is the only national party and that others were regional political outfits out to divide Kenyans.
He lauded Mombasa County for ensuring all 30 MCAs in the region were elected on an ODM ticket.
"I want all MCAs in Busia to be in ODM. The nomination process must be free and fair and I will not dare impose any aspirant on the people against their will," he said.
He urged all ODM grass root leaders to build the party and make it stronger ahead of the 2017 general elections.
There was drama at Magombe Irrigation Scheme earlier on in the day when 10 tractors bought by the county government and were due to be handed over to farmers were hidden by unknown people.
Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong said the county will strive to improve the lives of the county's residents.
Butere MP Andrew Toboso said the 2017 general elections would be a two horse race between Cord and Jubilee.
Kajiado Central MP Memusi Kanchori said Cord was prepared to form government in 2017.
Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar denied claims there was a crisis in ODM saying the departure of a few people would not destabilize the party.
He said ODM was willing to re-admit Namwamba and former ODM national Vice Chairman and Funyula MP Paul Otuoma back to the party.
