Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga has differed with Jubilee Party deputy leader, William Ruto, over aspirants who lost in primaries.
Raila dismissed members who left the alliance’s member parties, to vie as Independent candidates.
Many left ODM, and Wiper (Ford Kenya, ANC and CCM parties are also Nasa partners), after they lost in party primaries. They however vowed to support Raila, for presidency.
According to Raila, the ‘Independents’ are ‘opportunists’.He said, they should not be voted for, since they declined to concede defeat, and support the winning team.
However, the deputy president thinks otherwise over the matter.
He said anyone who lost in Jubilee Party primaries, and intended to vie as independent candidate, was welcomed to support Jubilee.
According to Ruto, they were all Jubilee members, and should be given all the support they need, since they also have support in ground.
Raila has been criticised for dismissing the Independents. According to critics, they have an overwhelming support on ground, which Nasa is likely to lose, if they dismiss independents.
Raila was peaking at the burial of Mama Gladys Onono, mother to former Ombudsman and ODM candidate for Rarieda Constituency, Otiende Amolo, over the weekend.
