The Raila Education Centre (REC) established in the heart of Kibera slum is set for official opening on Thursday, Kibra MP Ken Okoth has announced.

According to the legislator, the launch of the institution will be officiated by former Prime Minister and Cord leader Raila Odinga himself. 

"Thursday October 27th is (the) official opening of Raila Education Centre Karanja Road Kibra. Chief Guest Rt. Hon. Raila A. Odinga EGH. Welcome," Okoth announced on Sunday. 

The institution seeks to educate students in matters of research, innovation, science, engineering and maths and it will be targeting students from across the East African region.
