The ODM party leader Raila Odinga joined the family of late and former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa in mourning his widow Yvonne Wamalwa during a requiem mass in Nairobi on Thursday.
Yvonne died last week.
"I joined the family of my late friend and former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa, in mourning the passing of his widow and great friend of Mama Ida and I, Yvonne Wamalwa," Raila said in a Facebook post.
The former prime minister added that Yvonne was admired for her fortitude in the face of adversity.
"She famously said "Life is what you make it. You will inevitably encounter obstacles and people who want to pull you down. You will fall, that is a fact. But you have to pick yourself up, dust yourself up and start all over again. It does not matter how hard the fall, because with determination, you can learn from your falls and excel at the next hurdle," recalled Odinga.
"May we all learn from Yvonne. She will be greatly missed. May her soul rest in eternal peace," Raila added.
