ODM party leader Raila Odinga has hailed the reforms witnessed in the education sector saying it is the only positive thing done by the entire Jubilee administration in 2016.
Odinga in a statement to newsrooms on Sunday said the reforms made by Education CS Fred Matiang'i gave Kenyans reasons to smile in a year filled with sadness.
"The new team at Knec and the Ministry of Education deserve praise for restoring the credibility in exams," he said.
"They have given us something to smile about in a year dominated by gloom," he added.
The opposition heavyweight has called for the sacking of corrupt government officials who have refused to perform their duties during the last year of service of the Jubilee government.
"The success with exams management underscores one important point: public officers who fail credibility test must be removed from office no matter who benefits from their stay," he said.
"Other than exams management, it is difficult to pinpoint 2016 successes with real impact on Kenyans," he added.
