A section of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Kisii and Nyamira counties have accused and warned the opposition against politicising their matters as the government plans to compensate them.
Speaking at a Kisii hotel on Monday, they accused Cord of criticising the government which has offered to compensate them.
Led by Patrick Akama who is their coordinator, they said Cord is not representing them since most of them were in the previous government where they did nothing to resettle them.
In addition, they said that the opposition is using IDPs for their own interests which will never help Kenyans nor bring any solutions.
“Most of the opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga were in the previous government and they did nothing to help us. Why are they coming up when the current government has promised to compensate us? We wish to tell them that they are not representing us,” said Akama.
He added, “When Raila was the prime minister in the coalition government with Mwai Kibaki, he had the potential to help us but he never did that. We advise him and his group to leave the government which has a good message to us.”
In addition, they accused the opposition of organising their rally on the same day as Jubilee meaning the opposition has something sinister.
