Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga has criticised the Jubilee administration for targeting whistleblowers in corruption cases.
Raila said the government should instead focus on the individuals who siphon public money into their personal accounts.
Addressing journalists in Mombasa on Wednesday, Raila said the move by Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi to report the loss of at least Sh51m county funds should not be criticised.
He downplayed the criticism directed at Kingi by Jubilee leaders, saying the governor should be applauded for the role he played in unearthing the scandal.
"Jubilee administration has always been vocal in attacking corruption whistleblowers in the country. In Kilifi County, Governor Amason Kingi revealed the loss of huge amounts of money but instead, he has received a lot of criticism. The national government should be able to work with whistleblowers to come up with leads to the corruption cases in the country," said Raila.
A section of leaders in the country have accused Raila of double standards in the fight against graft after he defended Kingi over the Sh51m Kilifi corruption scandal.
