Speaking on Friday in Kisii during the burial ceremony of the late UoN lecturer Professor Tumbo Oeri, Raila revealed that the meeting with Uhuru on Friday, last week was a painful decision to make.

The opposition chief, however, said that his pact with the President was essential for the unity of Kenyans.

“I had no choice but to make a painful decision to work with Uhuru in a bid to realise a unitary State,” said Raila, as quoted by Kenyans.co.ke.

Raila further said that he was not aware of the move by his ODM party to oust NASA co-principal Moses Wetangula as the Senate Minority leader and replace him with Siaya Senator James Orengo.

"I am also seeing this on papers and I have spoken with my colleagues. I am not aware of the unfortunate plans," said Raila.

The former Prime Minister on Friday, last week met the Head of State at his Harambee House office, where they two resolved to work together to heal Kenya following the divisive 2017 elections.

The duo said it was time to put to an end the political differences that have divided more than four generations of Kenyans.

“We need to save our children from ourselves. My brother and I have come together to say 'this dissent stops here'. We refuse to allow our diversity to kill the nation," said Raila.
