NASA will give foreign observer missions another chance to 'redeem' themselves in the repeat poll set for next month, Opposition leader Raila Odinga has said.
Speaking during a campaign rally on Sunday, Raila said the external monitors will get a second chance but insisted they must adhere to international standards during the exercise.
"We will welcome them back to monitor the election. We will give them a second chance to observe the election but they should be objective in what they do," said Raila.
NASA has repeatedly accused the observers for giving the bungled August 8 election a clean bill of health, when, according to the Opposition, the poll was marred with massive irregularities.
Over the weekend, Siaya Senator James Orengo accused the head of the Carter Center’s mission John Kerry and AU leading observer Thambo Mbeki of sanitising President Uhuru Kenyatta's 'undeserved' victory.
"It is now clear that the election was won by Raila Odinga. President Kenyatta stole our victory then arranged with external observers such as John Kerry and Thambo Mbeki to sanitise his fraud. These observers are fake and should apologise to Kenyans," Orengo said, as quoted by the Standard.
