The MCAs caused jitters among ODM supporters with a section of party loyalists accusing them of being sellouts.

Speaking on Monday after holding a closed-door meeting with Mr Odinga, the MCAs defended the trip to State House by insisting that it was meant to discuss development.

“We want to assure you that as ODM grass root representatives we cannot let you down. We are keen to ensure the party sweeps all the available seats including the presidency and that is our concern,” said Majority Leader Protus Moindi.

“We went to State House to enquire about development because this region has been neglected. We never went there to discuss politics and we made our plans known by holding a press Conference at the Orange House,” he added.

Majority Whip Henry Moracha said the MCAs were willing to sensitise people to register as voters in the grassroots to boost the party in terms of numbers.

“We are doing all we can to ensure that we register as many people as we can to boost our numbers. That is a guarantee and we are sure of delivering for ODM,” he said.
