The opposition will not take part in the October election if Jubilee Members of Parliament passed the controversial election amendments, National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate, Raila Amolo Odinga has said.
The opposition leader who was speaking during a vote hunt mission said that the opposition is ready for the election but will be forced to change their minds upon passing of the laws, which have continued to attract mixed reactions from different factions.
“NASA team is ready for the election only if the law won’t be changed as it’s happening in Parliament," the NASA chief said, as quoted by Star.
On his part, Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula, who had accompanied Raila during the tour, said that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had not lamented over the laws and regulations.
The NASA principal also called upon leaders of the alliance not to tolerate the passing of the new laws saying that they will make it hard for Raila’s presidency.
"The IEBC has never said the law is insufficient and has never asked anyone to change the law," Wetangula said.
The leaders will be leading their supporters in protesting against the dismissal of the IEBC officials including CEO Ezra Chiloba.
