Cord leader Raila Odinga has said that runway graft and tribalism have impeded the desires of Kenya's forefathers to realise a better country.
According to the former Prime Minister, with over 50 years gone since we gained independence Kenyan citizens’ still have nothing to smile about.
He affirmed that marganilisation of communities has hampered the dream of the country's founders in the fight against poverty, disease and ignorance.
“We must reflect on where we have failed and be ashamed before our founding fathers and the next generation. With that in mind, accept responsibility and confront the future with a new honesty and commitment,” Raila said in a statement to newsrooms.
Raila emphasised that this year’s Jamhuri Day Celebrations should mark the start of the battle against graft, exclusion and tribalism among other vices dragging the nation behind in matters development.
His remarks come at a time the nation is mourning over 40 Kenyans who perished following a grisly accident that occurred along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
