Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny now says Raila Odinga has conceded defeat.
The Jubilee leader said on Wednesday that the formation of People’s Assembly, by the Opposition chief was a subtle way of accepting defeat from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“You do not have to be a political analyst or expert to know that ‘Baba’ (Raila Odinga) has given up or conceded. In his statement, he was simply asking his supporters to go back to work and accept the verdict. When he talked about the formation of the People’s Assembly that was as good as giving up,” Kutuny said.
The legislator, however, noted that the incumbent Kenyatta and the veteran Odinga needed to hold dialogue and steer the nation in a clear direction.
He said; “Uhuru means well for the country and I am certain that at some point the two leaders will have to put their political differences aside and engage in meaningful talks that will save this country from any form of political turmoil.”
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Uhuru Kenyatta winner of the October 26 fresh presidential poll.
IEBC said 266 of the 290 constituencies voted. President Kenyatta retained his seat after garnering 7,483,895 votes, equal to 98.27 percent of the vote.
