Political commentator Kwamhetsi Makokha has said NASA leader Raila Odinga could be poised for a political humiliation during the forthcoming presidential repeat polls.
In an opinion editorial published with The Saturday Nation, Makokha opined that the former premier's withdrawal from the polls is inconsequential, asserting that Raila cannot escape defeat.
"All escape routes are sealed and there is no exit from the imminent defeat awaiting Mr Raila Odinga at the forthcoming October 26, 2017 presidential election," he remarked.
He further accused the Opposition chief of holding the country hostage over his demands for electoral reforms at IEBC.
"Mr Odinga has tortured the country with demands for expandable maximum reforms to the election system couched as irreducible minimums," he said.
Makokha noted that the current political standoff was conceived by Raila, and has since led to the collapse of the country's economy.
"Mr Odinga has compounded the country’s pain by single-handedly crashing the Nairobi Stock Exchange through his petition to the Supreme Court. He has threatened businesses with work disruption, boycott of goods and services, and worse," he stated.
Mr Odinga has since invited the international community to intervene and help resolve the country's electoral and political standoff.
