Hassan on Thursday accused Raila of spreading malicious information which he further termed as baseless.

Speaking at the commission headquarters, Hassan said that Odinga was playing double standards and only wants to smear the electoral body ahead of the 2017 elections.

“Raila Odinga should come out and provide evidence that IEBC intends to rig the elections. Let him produce the evidence and if indeed any of the commissioners is involved in suspicious acts we will resign,” he said.

Hassan said that the commission will not be intimidated by political forces and that it was open to discussions with all political parties.

He however said that they cannot host a mob of people who come with violence.

“We are ready to host political party leaders to iron out matters of key concerns but we will not accept violence and acts of hooliganism,” he added.

Cord leaders have been calling for the disbandment of the electoral commission accusing it of being controlled by external forces.

Cord leader Raila Odinga has also accused the commission of allegedly planning to rig the 2017 elections in favour of Jubilee.

The cord leader has threatened to boycott the 2017 general elections if IEBC commissioners will still be in office.

Several leaders mostly allied to Jubilee government have however hit back at Odinga accusing him developing feet ahead of the 2017 general elections.

On Monday, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria said that Odinga will still lose the elections even if his brother Oburu Odinga was to be IEBC chairman.
