NASA leader Raila Odinga has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime of State capture.
He described the ongoing crackdown of individuals seen as opposition-friendly as the return of the dictatorial KANU rule when dissenting voices in the opposition faced the ruthless and unforgiving wrath of the government.
This is in the wake of arrests, deportation and withdrawal of passports of individuals who allegedly planned, executed or attended Raila's 'swearing-in' as the people's president at Uhuru Park last week.
NASA MPs TJ Kajwang' (Ruaraka) and George Aladwa (Makadara) have been arrested with fiery lawyer Miguna Miguna being deported to Canada after spending five days in police detention.
The former Prime Minister, in an exclusive interview with the Standard newspaper, said Uhuru was behaving the same way as his father, the founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, who according to Raila, was a strong-arm president.
"Uhuru must be getting advice from someone who advised his father because what we are seeing is a fight between the old order, supported the status quo, and the new order, people who are for the Constitution and positive change.
Jubilee is attempting to turn back the clock and erase all the gains made by the new Constitution," he told the local paper on Thursday.
Raila said the refusal by the government to honour court orders, intimidation of the Judiciary and Jubilee's use of its majority power in the parliament to pass 'dictatorial' laws were signs that the nation was heading to a totalitarian rule.
"The country is under threat from a government attempting to turn back the hands of time and re-introduce an era where the President enjoyed unfettered authority," he noted.
