Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has dismissed calls from a section of Jubilee leaders to retire from politics insisting that he is older and wiser.
Last week, President Uhuru Kenyatta urged the veteran leader to hung his boots promising to ‘take care of him’ as a statesman in his retirement.
On Friday in Nyamira, Odinga laughed off the calls adding that leadership had little to do with age but someone’s ability to think rightfully.
“Age has nothing to do with leadership. If it had, then President Uhuru Kenyatta should retire because he is younger but cannot make critical decisions about proper governance,” he said.
“I am be older but wiser because I have been tested before and excelled. Kenya needs people who can make wiser decisions and Jubilee government lacks that completely,” he added.
Odinga joked that he will replace President Kenyatta, making direct reference to United States where his age mate Donald Trump is set to replace President Barack Obama who is Uhuru’s age mate.
