Kibaki was declared winner by the defunct Electoral Commission of Kenya, leading to unrest across the country and subsequent post-election chaos.

Although a report done but retired judge Johann Kriegler maintained that there was no clear winner, Raila accused Kibaki on ‘robing’ him victory.

“I beat Kibaki squarely in 2007 and he knows that. The election was in my favour but the usual thieves employed their tactics of robing Kenyans what they rightfully wanted,” he said when receiving a section of Maasai community defectors on Tuesday.

“People were being killed all over and more so my supporters. I had to make a quick decision to allow peace prevail in our country. But the record remains I beat Kibaki and that is the truth,” he added.

Raila and Kibaki were forced by international community to reach an agreement which gave birth to Grand Coalition government where he was appointed Prime Minister.
