NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga. He believes he was unfairly defeated in 2007 and 2013 elections. (www.thebigissue.co.ke)National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has reiterated that he only lost once during his previous attempts at the presidency.
According to Raila, the electoral body in both, 2007 and 2013 acted in ways leading to dubious election results.
He believes in 2007, the then ECK chair Samuel Kivuitu accepted that he himself did not even know who was the winner while in 2013, the then IEBC chair Isaac Hassan and his team failed to offer ways responsible for ensuring credible elections.
"I am running for the presidency for the fourth time. However, I want to clarify that I only lost once because, in 2007 and 2013, both ECK and IEBC failed to offer credible elections. That is why the media in 2007 was shut from live streaming of the elections and even the late Kivuitu admitted he did know who the winner was. The same can be said for IEBC in 2013 ," said Raila.
Raila further faulted the Jubilee regime for leading a failed economy.
He attributed the high inflation rate to over borrowed money that was not invested properly in leading to maximum returns.
"The Jubilee regime has led a failed economy. The inflation rate being currently witnessed is attributed to the high over borrowing that has not been invested properly," added Raila.
Raila made the remarks during the presidential debate held on Monday at the Catholic University of East Africa (CUE) where President Uhuru Kenyatta failed to avail himself.
