NASA leader Raila Odinga has yet against dismissed claims that he may plan to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta through 'backdoor' means.
Last week, Odinga dared Uhuru by taking oath as people's president in a mock swearing-in ceremony at Uhuru Park.
In a short interview with the BBC, Odinga however remained defiant over Uhuru's legitimacy, insisting that elections should be held by August.
"I will not use unconstitutional means to take over. We have laws and that is what I am using at the moment.
"He remains illegitimate and that is the fact. We shall push for fresh elections in August whether he likes it or not," he said.
Constitutionally, Uhuru was sworn in last year, a move that may further delay any possible dialogue with a disgruntled opposition.
At the moment, the government has embarked on crackdown on opposition leaders believed to have facilitated the ceremony.
