Cord leader Raila Odinga is today, Wednesday expected in Kilifi County, where he will asses the extent of drought and how it has affected residents.
Accompanied by Governor Amason Kingi, Women Representative Aisha Jumwa among other County leaders and a few from the neighboring Mombasa, Odinga will distribute relief food to the hardest hit victims.
He will as well meet area leaders for talks on how to find a long term solution to the drought issue which has left hundreds of families in starvation.
More than 2,000 livestock farmers in Ganze and Kaloleni Sub-counties have been counting losses following the deaths of hundreds of animals due to drought.
Goshi, Jira, Maryango and Nzovuni in Ganze and some parts of Kabatheni and Tsangatsini in Kaloleni Sub-county are the hardest hit areas.
Odinga arrived at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa, Tuesday evening, and was received by Kilifi Governor Kingi and Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana.
They addressed an impromptu rally in Changamwe alongside area MP Omar Mwinyi, Mombasa County MP Mishi Mboko and Kilifi County MP Aisha Jumwa.
''I will tour Kilifi County tomorrow to assess the extent of the drought and how it has affected residents. I will also distribute relief food to the hardest hit victims. I am scheduled to have a sit down with the County Government officials to receive a briefing on their plans to deliver a long term solution to the issue," Raila said, Tuesday.
