Raila's parallel rally on Madaraka Day has received a lot of criticism from Kenyans leading many to come out in public and declare their displeasure.
Some think it is not appropriate for Raila to hold a rally when the whole nation joins in celebrating a day that unifies it.
Political analyst Dr Alfred Kioli has condemned the move saying it is used by Raila to seek national attention and gain political mileage.
He was speaking in Kisii town saying Raila is hypocritical on his agenda of advocating for unity yet his intentions are far from that.
He said Raila is aiming at seeking national attention and political mileage rather than advocating for unity and true citizenship.
Cord is expected to hold a parallel rally on Madaraka Day which the government has so far declared null and void as Jubilee takes to Afraha stadium Nakuru where the president is expected to deliver his speech.
“Raila is a key influential figure that can easily sway Kenyans. Holding a parallel rally on Madaraka day is divisive and unhealthy for a healing nation," said Kioli.
"He should mobilise his supporters and put aside their political differences, come together to unite the nation.” he says.
