Speaking at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) in Ruiru on Sunday, Kuria accused Raila of stalling peace efforts in the country by using the peace caravan initiative as a smear campaign against Jubilee.

“Raila has hijacked the peace caravan initiative and turned it into a Cord campaign. He was in Kisii where he held a campaign and used the platform to hit out at Jubilee government,” said Kuria.

“How can we agree not to politic about matters that are before court and then you turn around and do the exact opposite? This is a clear sign of hypocrisy and proof that the biggest impediment to peace in this country is Raila Odinga.”

The opposition plans to criss-cross the country in support of leaders who were detained two weeks ago over hate speech.

Cord leaders Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Kilifi Women Rep Aisha Jumwa and her Busia counterpart Florence Mutua were detained alongside Jubilee legislatures Kuria, Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and Ferdinard Waitutu (Kabete).

After securing their release, the seven, except Waititu had lunch with Raila where they agreed to transverse the country in a peace caravan aimed at uniting Kenyans.

Waititu declined the offer saying he does not trust the ODM party leader.
