President Uhuru Kenyatta has termed opposition leaders especially Raila Odinga as tribalists who do not love peace.
Kenyatta said he will constitutionally deal with those planning chaos before, during and after the August elections.
The Daily Nation quotes the president warning opposition chiefs while in Embu at Siakago town. “The Opposition is led by a tribalist who doesn’t like peace. Who is this he claims wants to steal elections? We are winning fair and square,” said President Kenyatta as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Kenyatta was mobilizing Embu residents to register in masses. He pledged not to allow destruction of property and lose of life due to post election outcome.
Kenyatta said, “I will not allow anyone in Kenya to lose their lives or property because of elections again. The government will legally deal with leaders planning to cause chaos.”
However, Raila Odinga dismissed the president’s threats and said he was ready to be jailed. Odinga said he has been in jail for nine years hence that is not a worthy threat to him.
“I have stayed in jail for nine years. I am not, and cannot, be intimidated by such threats,” said Mr Odinga.
